ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation has bagged two nominations at the prestigious 2009 International Emmy Awards for the outstanding performance of actress Angel Locsin in the series "Lobo" and the outstanding drama series "Kahit Isang Saglit" starring Jericho Rosales and Malaysian model-actress Carmen Soo.
Locsin is the only Filipino nominated in the acting category and will be competing against actresses from France, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. She portrayed the role of a Lyka Raymundo, an aspiring fashion designer who later had to confront her own destiny as a she-wolf.
In a text message read by Kris Aquino in Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN) Monday night, Locsin said she is honored to be nominated but could not totally rejoice or celebrate because of the difficulties that the country is going through after typhoon "Ondoy."
On the other hand, "Kahit Isang Saglit" will be competing in the Best Telenovela category against programs from India and France. It is a landmark TV project aired both in the Philippines and Malaysia. The drama series was shot in both countries, marking ABS-CBN's first collaboration with a Malaysian production group (Double Vision).
ABS-CBN made history in 2007 when its late night news program "Bandila" earned an International Emmy nomination, beating some 800 entries worldwide in the News and Current Affairs categories. It was the first Philippine newscast nominated in the Internal Emmys.
Winners will be revealed during the Gala Night on November 23, 2009 at Hilton Hotel, New York.
